Works and Days

Hesiod was the first major Greek poet to speak in his own voice and to describe the lives, struggles, and concerns of ordinary people. Through 'Works and Days', he left one of the earliest reflections on labor, justice, morality, and economic life, while 'Theogony' became the foundation of Greek mythology for later generations.

Together with Homer, Hesiod helped shape the intellectual and cultural foundations of ancient Greece. His works influenced Greek religion, philosophy, literature, and education, and remain indispensable sources for understanding the beliefs and values of the ancient world.
