Paul Ngozi (1949–1989), born Paul Dobson Nyirongo, was a Zambian musician who rose to prominence on his country's music scene in the 1970s and 1980s. He first became popular as the leader of the band Ngozi Family, a top local rock band. In 1976 they released their first album, entitled The day of judgment which paved the way for Zamrock music. In the following years, Ngozi will record hundreds of songs, gaining great sucess with songs that comment on life and the social situation in his country. At the height of his glory, he died of AIDS in 1989. |
